pyroguysr's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1949,1954, 2006 When I was a wee tyke, my folks owned a 1949 Pontiac Chief. It had a footswitch starter. You put the key in the car, turned it to "on" and pushed the switch for the starter. Their next car, a 1954 Chief (We called it "The Pumpkin" because it was a burnt orange color) had that button "on the dash!" In 1955, they introduced the "key starter" on most cars (it had been available on "upscale" autos since the late 40's). So tell me, why is it, 50 years later, we've gone backward? The Honda 2000, Acura, Lexus and other luxury cars are suddenly installing "Start Buttons" on their vehicles! WHY? I'm totally confused. I thought we were supposed to be "keyless" by now! 11:48 p.m. - 2005-11-07 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
