Animazement has been wonderful! The dragons have been well-received by the con-goers there and the costumes have been pretty good. There's a definite shortage of Pocky, though.
Compared to Otakon, it's a small convention, but I'd say there was a higher percentage of costumed attendees (many Alucard's and Chobits, a few Lupin's, one Witch Hunter Robin and many I couldn't even begin to guess). The dealers room isn't huge but it's bigger than Balticon's and more competative. J&J is there... they gave up on Balticon three years ago... the last - and only - time I attended the "Con of the fat, smelly people" as
At least the Vid dealers are offering something of a discount on prices (though one dealer sells everything for 20% off Retail ($19.95) for a net price of 15.96 and another offers his product at a lower price ($17.95) but only gives a 10% discount (net price $16.16). Both are better than Otakon because the dealers there charge full retail. It's still better to buy off the net, though.
One of my friends from my writers group, "Joe", came by to see the con. I guess he enjoyed it. As he put it, "I like hanging out with you... you make me seem 'normal'." As if!
