OTAKON '05

Sorry I've not been here in awhile. I've had things to say, but just wasn't in the mood to say them.

*sighs* Well, I'm back from Otakon and it's been a long 4 days. For those that don't know, Otakon is a HUGE anime convention held in Baltimore. Estimates of attendance for last year range from 27,000 to 31,000.

This year, they were forced to cap it at 24,000 - including staff. While it was much better organized (for getting vendors in and out of the Center at least) I found it to be a bit anticlimatic when compared to last year. Not as much free stuff being given away, the prices weren't great (I did research on what I wanted BEFOREHAND by going to Amazon.com) one or two major vendors didn't show up (most noticably absent was VIZ), etc (No, Sneech... no pornographic hentai CD's this year, so Rob misses out).

I didn't really meet anyone I knew this year... meaning someone huggable, other than Jen and Kip from... I don't remember the name of their company, but they sold a hell of a lot of kimono's... and they have a really cool new schoolbus to scoot around the country in. But nobody... not even the 16 yr old kinda sorta lesbian that glomped me last year (to show me what a "glomp" was) and then kissed my cheek because I wore a sign that said "Kiss me before I become an antique."

But aside from Kip and Jen, nobody really there that I knew. And yeah, Jen is tall and skinny and cute and has really neat curly hair and loves my back rubs and yes, she does have small boobs. But she's got Kip, who is a well-muscled, long-haired hunk by my guy standards.

And I got alternately heckled and told how cool I am. Heckled by a comedienne that saw me walking by with a Zard on my head and told I was cool because of my handlebar moustache and loud ties. Yes, I wore ties. I like wearing ties.

I'm getting a lot of comments on my Snidely Whiplash cookieduster, which I guess is good.

But now I've come home to find out I don't have to work tomorrow... which is bad. I need the money to fix my car.

And I'm not going up to Maryland Ren Fair this weekend because of work issues and said car.

Bah.

I did get some video's though~

FLCL - the entire set! (thank you, Kat, for a wonderful birthday prezzie)

Bubblegum Crisis 3

And lastly, I think it's "Sakura"

OK... so a lot of you DON'T know that I'm into anime. Well, I am. My son and I loved watching things like that. I warped him at an early age with Monty Python and that led us to watch things like Ren & Stimpy and Evangelion or Aeon Fluxx.

What can I say... I've always been a nerd. I just look normal.

Oh, and DragonStar says hello to everyone! Can you believe she's finally heading off to college???

She sent me a thank you note for all the CD's and neat treats I sent her at the Camp where she's a counselor and thinks I'm the neatest friend ever.

*Happy Smiles*
