Pearl Harbor Day
As my second entry for the day:
64 years ago, it was "A day that will live in infamy"... and it's doubtful that more than a handful of kids today even know what Pearl Harbor Day is... or the fact that Japan has never apologized for the attack that killed over 1,500 American sailors on that sleepy Sunday morning and plunging us into World War II. But damned if they didn't demand and receive an apology from us on the 50th anniversary of the bombing of Nagasaki and Hiroshima - an action ending that war with atomic weapons - by a blubbering and "remorseful" Bill Clinton!
If you visit the USS Arizona Memorial, you will see the hulk of the ship allow a bubble of fuel oil to escape at a regular interval, and the refection from the sun creating a dazzling rainbow pattern on the water. It is said that the last drop will bubble up when the final surviving member of the Pearl Harbor attack dies.
