pyroguysr's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Finally severed my relationship with DISH network. They do great by their customers, but entirely at the expense of their sales employees. I have never hated a job as much as I did that one! They would force you to sell the latest technology to people in their 70's and penalize you if you didn't. They would paint you a rosy picture of "what you can make" and then put one impediment after another in front of you to keep you from making that kind of money. They saw nothing wrong with the fact that only 7 out of 180 sales reps were making above the base pay of $10/hr. We were told that we were "our own boss, work as many hours as we wanted, and ran our own business, but they didn't pay "overtime" because we were "exempt/commission employees", but we could put in Extra Time, which you had to sign up for - you couldn't "just come in". If you did, you were generally asked to leave. You can't live on the East Coast on $400/week. Now that I'm gone from there, my stress levels have dropped considerably, though I expect that they will increase again as I go job hunting. *sigh* No more sales jobs for this boy. I can handle customer service, because I'm "doing something" to benefit someone rather than forcing a product down their throat that they don't want / they don't need / isn't appropriate for their age group. 11:53 a.m. - 2015-05-13 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
