Today I went to fetch the mail and what do I find? Kathryn has been invited to join the NRA! They�ve even provided her very own membership card, embossed in gold lettering! Kathryn. Who wouldn�t have a gun within 100 yards of her. I am amazed. A short while back, there was a series of cross-burnings in Durham, the city 20 miles to the west of us� aka, �Raleigh�s ghetto.� They aren�t sure that the crosses were actually the work of the KKK or done by some young pranksters. Word has it that there were messages attached that warned gangs to �get out.� The black community is, of course, �up-in-arms.� Everyone is �fearful.� The FBI has been called in. There was a protest rally today. Can someone tell me how many years ago it was that someone� anyone� was directly assaulted and killed by the KKK? What was that? 30? 35? Maybe even 40 years ago? Now, how many hours ago was it that some innocent bystander was killed by a bunch of young thugs shooting it out in the street. In Durham it was just this morning. A 17 yr old girl was killed in a drive-by shooting. Why isn�t the black community up-in-arms about gangs? Why aren�t there protests and calls for action when gang members deface public and private property like a bunch of horny tomcats with graffiti and gang symbols? Why is it a hate crime when white people do it, but not when it�s blacks or Hispanics? Why is it that gun laws are aimed at law-abiding citizens instead of criminals? I�m waiting for my NRA membership card.
